Andrew Hewson and Adrian Cochrane, who organise all the events of the successful Nikon Owner South-Coast Group, would like to invite everyone to the next meeting, which will provide a wonderful photo-opportunity – taking photographs of the public firework display at Mayflower Park in Southampton to celebrate “The Fifth of November”.

They will meet everyone who would like to attend at the Duke of Wellington between 4:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., where food can be ordered for post-fireworks consumption. The group will then make its way to the old wall opposite Mayflower Park, where there is an excellent (and free) view of the fireworks display, which this year, according to the promotion about the evening is “going back to traditional effects, so expect to hear and see massive bangs and vibrant colours from a high aerial effect show” (quoted from Southampton CC website). The reason for the early start is that, as Andrew explains, everyone attending will need to take up their positions long before the scheduled start time of the display because it is a very popular event and by the time the fuses are lit, there will be standing room only. Andrew also suggests that everyone wraps up warmly. The evening of course will be subject to the vagaries of the weather and one hopes for cold, clear, skies, but if it turns out to be wet and windy, then the group will retire to the Duke of Wellington for early refreshments. Last year there were some excellent images taken of the display as well as long exposures of the fun-fair lights and traffic passing along the road: please view the NOSCG Flickr group

If you would like to join the photo-outing either by yourself or with your family, please visit the NIKON OWNER MESSAGE BOARD and leave a message, stating whether or not you would also like to eat at the Duke of Wellington. Please note that you can attend no matter where you live, or even if you are not a regular attendee of the Nikon Owner South-Coast Group.

DISCLAIMER: The various organisers of these events and photo-outings together with Nikon Owner magazine are only taking the initiative of arranging and facilitating these meetings on the strict understanding that they are solely acting in an introductory capacity and anyone planning to come on any such meeting will be deemed to have agreed that they fully understand this as a condition of joining any of the group events. Some of the outings can be expected to involve travel by foot while photographing in the various locations. Each participant will be deemed responsible for ensuring his or her own safety at all times and the safety of their property and no liability whatsoever is accepted either by any of the organisers or Nikon Owner magazine in this regard. In other words we shall all act reasonably, safely and responsibly and each person will join the party on the understanding that they do so entirely at their own risk.

With very best wishes,
