Following the huge success of the last three photo-outings of the Nikon Owner North Midlands Group, all kindly organized by Pat and Mike Clarke, everyone is warmly invited to the next meeting of the group, which will take place on Sunday, 13th November. Attendees are invited to a photographic walk in the Attenborough Nature Reserve, which is well-known for its abundance of wildfowl and other birds.

Situated within easy reach of Nottingham, Derby and Leicester and other locations in the Midlands, the Attenborough Nature Reserve has been described as providing a “lifeline to the natural world”. The Nature Reserve itself is a stunning complex of flooded former gravel pits and islands and provides 360 acres of exceptional habitat for a wide range of plants, birds and other wildlife. The Reserve has been nationally designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, and the award-winning Nature Centre is an ideal gateway to this natural haven, surrounded by the tranquil waters of the beautiful surroundings.

You are most welcome to attend the photo-outing by yourself or with other family members, no matter where you live in the UK.

Meeting Place:

The Nature Reserve Car Park at the bottom of Barton Lane, Attenborough.

Website: www.attenboroughnaturecentre.co.uk

Time to meet:

11.00 a.m. for refreshments in the Attenborough Nature Centre adjacent to the car park.

Booking – IMPORTANT:

Would you kindly book for a place on the photo-outing via the Nikon Owner interactive message board, clicking onto the link below:

Mike and Pat Clark have also suggested, as this will be the last meeting of the North Midlands Group this year, that the group meet for a meal at the local pub at the end of the outing. If so, would you be kind enough to email Mike on attendale@btinternet.com by 5th November if you intend to join them for a meal.

I would appreciate it if you would also log your interest in attending with me, Gillian Greenwood, by emailing me on Gillian.greenwood@nikonownermagazine.com with your full name, subscription number, daytime and mobile phone numbers.

Directions:

The postcode of the car park for the nature reserve at the bottom of Barton Lane, Attenborough, is NG9 6DY.

Map: See this link on streetmap.co.uk

It can be approached from Nottingham ringroad (A52) via the A6005 signposted Beeston/Long Eaton, continuing about 3 miles to the Chilwell Retail Park. Shortly after the traffic lights at Attenborough Lane, look out for a crossroads with traffic lights with Porcelanosa on the left and the Cornmill public house on the right. Take the left turn at Porcelanosa and carry straight on at the island down Barton Lane.

Alternatively, it can be approached from the M1, junction 25, taking the A52 towards Nottingham, then a right turn at the first roundabout, signposted Toton/Long Eaton, straight on through the first set of traffic lights to the T-junction, then a left turn on to the A6005, signposted Nottingham, and shortly afterwards you will reach the crossroads with Porcelanosa on the right and the Cornmill on the left hand side of the road. Take the right turn and continue across the island on to Barton Lane. Again, a distance of some 3 miles.

With Best Wishes,

Gillian Greenwood
