Saturday, 12th October 2013
2:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Meeting place: Queen’s Park,
Queen’s Terrace,
Ocean Village,
Southampton, SO14 2BQ

It is perhaps almost the time of year when we begin to think about huddling close to a roaring log fire, sipping a warming drink, and spending hours looking through the photographs taken in warmer weather earlier in the year. For that reason, Andrew Hewson and Adrian Cochrane are organising the last NOSCG Walkabout of the year on Saturday, October 12th.

Adrian Cochrane and Andrew Hewson run the very popular Nikon Owner South-Coast Group and over the years have arranged a number of extremely interesting photo-outings and photographic meetings for the group, including the recent talk given by Mark Gibson, Director of Photography at Grays of Westminster, on how to shoot video with your Nikon DSLR. This final photographic walk-about will be held close to the group’s usual venue, The Duke of Wellington, at Queen’s Park (see map below), a small park surrounded by London plane trees which, at this time of the year, provide some glorious autumnal colour.

The group will meet at the Orchard Place entrance at the east end of Queen’s Park at 2:30 p.m. (address and postcode above). There are many photographic opportunities and a variety of photographic subjects within the park or the urban area nearby, as well as interesting images that can be taken of the ferry terminals and port. The time framework will be fairly flexible and the group will be able to spend as much time as they choose taking photographs or even 360° panoramas if they wish. Sunset is at about 6:30 p.m., and this will provide the additional possibility of dusk photography at Mayflower Park if the weather is photo-friendly.

The final stop will be at the Duke of Wellington for refreshments, or earlier, if the weather becomes inclement. Please post your name on the Nikon Owner Message Board to let Adrian and Andrew know if you would like to attend (and if you intend to stay on for an evening meal at the Duke of Wellington).
