Andy Hewson and Adrian Cochrane, the organisers of the Nikon Owner South-Coast Group have organised the last indoor meeting for the group before the start of summer and the various planned walks. It will take place at the Duke of Wellington on Saturday 12th May 2012 and is on the subject of workflow – but a totally different aspect of it.

Usually ‘workflow’ is concerned with the editing flow once the photos have been placed onto your computer and loaded into your editing software of choice. However, during the evening, Andy and Adrian will be looking at the underlying components and workflow that are not normally thought about in any great depth.

This will include: transferring photos onto your computer; the computers, hardware, software, backups, naming conventions and anything else that is used to support the ‘workflow’.

There will be short presentations from four of the members of the group about their own set-ups. The intention is to open up discussion, generally share ‘hows & whys’, and give people ideas about ways to improve ‘flow’ or different ways of implementing that ‘flow’.

On behalf of Mike Eleftheriades and the Nikon Owner London Group we are pleased to invite you to the next Nikon Owner (London Group) event Beyond Visible Light, Infrared Photography with Simon Weir LRPS. The event will be held on Friday, April 27th 2012 at Kensingtonrooms.

An acknowledged expert in the field, Simon will cover the history of IR, the physics of IR imaging, film vs. digital-based IR, acquisition with modified and unmodified cameras, camera modification and lens selection, the problems of focus and hot-spots, subject matter and typical workflows.

As well as showing many of his own striking infrared images, Simon will also be displaying the work of a number of infrared photographers from around the world.

It promises to be a great evening! Space is limited to 50 seats, so please book your places early to avoid disappointment.

About Simon Weir

Simon is a music, stage and editorial photographer with an intimate knowledge of flash and a passion for infrared photography. He has spoken at Nikon Owner events to great acclaim on the Siena Palio (90 Seconds to Victory), on Flash Photography (A Flash for Inspiration) and on Infrared Photography.

Launched for use with Nikon’s new D3200 D-SLR, the WU-1a is a USB dongle that lets photographers connect their camera to smart mobile devices. Designed to enable easy sharing, backup and remote camera control, the WU-1a is equipped with built-in Wi-Fi for direct camera-to-device communication without the need to connect to external Wi-Fi hotspots first. Users can send high-quality photos and movies directly from their D3200 to a smartphone or tablet, or control their camera from their smart device.

Wireless image transfer

Connect the camera

Wirelessly transmitting images from your camera to an Android smart device is now possible by using the optional WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter. This means it is easy to share them with your friends and family instantly via social networks and e-mail or save and back them up when you are on the move. Because you don’t need a Wi-Fi connection to transfer images from the camera to your smart device, the WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter is an ideal accessory when you’re travelling. In-camera editing

There are a variety of editing functions available to help draw out your artistic flare. Its lightweight, small body makes the D3200 easy to pack and carry around so you never miss those important moments.
