Michael Huggan, a local Hampshire photographer has chosen a mix of 12 images that showcase not only Michael’s huge skill behind the lens, but also his diversity of wildlife
subjects.
The 2013 Wildlife & Wild Places calendar features the following:
- The Dawes Glacier in Alaska for January,
- Red Deer Stags in Scotland for February,
- Loch an Eilein in Scotland for March,
- Red Squirrel in Scotland for April,
- The Hampshire Hunt Hounds for May,
- Peacock in Rajasthan in India for June,
- Aspen Trees in Colorado for July,
- Balancing Rock in the garden of the Gods in Colorado, USA for August,
- Female Grouse in Scotland for September,
- Waterfall in Scotland for October,
- Wickaninnish Bay in the British Columbia, Canada for November,
- Stag in the Sun in Scotland for December.
January – The Dawes Glacier in Alaska
This year Michael travelled to Alaska and Florida, including attending numerous horse trials & events up and down the country. One of the highlights of Michael’s year was being the official Marwari horse photographer at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Horse Pageant, The World comes to Windsor.

Michael Huggan says “I wanted to concentrate the 2013 calendar on wildlife & wild places, which are both huge passions of mine, I have included some dramatic landscapes from some of my favorite places, including the Dawes Glacier in Alaska during calving (where huge pieces of ice break off in to the sea which creates huge thunderous noises and splashes)!
Also included are images taken from my previous trips to Colorado & Rajasthan, not forgetting Scotland where I have featured some of my favorite wildlife & highland places. I hope you enjoy the images.”
