Andrew Roast, who runs the very successful Nikon Owner Essex Group, would like to invite everyone to attend the next photographic outing at The High House Production Park in Purfleet, Essex. The photo-event he has organized will provide the attendees with some most unusual photographic opportunities.
The Royal Opera House opened the Bob and Tamar Manoukian Production Building at Purfleet in December 2010, which is a scene-making facility for their opera and ballet productions on the High House site. It is used as a set-production workshop where world-class artists produce the sets and scenery required for the Royal Opera House’s Covent Garden stage. Andrew has organised with the management that the attendees will have photographic access to most areas including viewing galleries where set producers work.
It also houses the brand new National Skills Academy for Creative and Cultural arts and has the UK’s first ever backstage training centre.
The 14-acre site also contains a group of buildings including a historic farm, with a Grade II house and barn, and one of the best dovecotes in Southern England, which is a Scheduled Ancient Monument. The property includes the house, coachman’s cottage, chaise house, stable, granary, barn, workshop, cart sheds, dovecote, and inner and outer walled gardens, all of which provide possible further photographic opportunities. If the weather is good you will also have wonderful views of the QE2 Bridge from the roof of the Skills Academy, so Andrew Roast suggests that everyone brings appropriate lenses.
There is parking and a café on site.
