The South-East Nikon Owner Group Photographic Walk, Sheffield Park Gardens

Uckfield, East Sussex
Sunday, 16th October

Following the success of the inaugural meeting of the Nikon Owner South-East Regional Group kindly organised by long-standing Nikon Owner subscriber, Paul Stillman, and its very well-attended photo-outing at the Bluebell Railway in Sussex, everyone is warmly invited to the next meeting of the Nikon Owner South-East Regional Group.

This second meeting will be held close by at Sheffield Park Gardens in East Sussex on Sunday, October 16th to coincide with the rich hues and tones of autumn foliage. The garden is famous both for its many rare trees and shrubs as well as its spectacular colours during the autumn season. Sheffield Park Gardens is located half-way between East Grinstead and Lewes on the A245.

To enjoy the best of the light, Paul Stillman has asked the attendees to meet for lunch at 12 noon at the Red Lion Pub at Chelwood Gate, which is about five miles north of Sheffield Park Gardens. Mobile phone coverage in the gardens is patchy, so this will enable everyone to make initial contact.

Sheffield Park Gardens

Sheffield Park Gardens is a magnificent informal landscape garden with four lakes forming the centerpiece, laid out in the 18th century by ‘Capability’ Brown and further developed in the early part of the twentieth century. There are stunning shows of daffodils and bluebells in spring and rhododendrons and azaleas in early summer, as well as magnificent colours during autumn; Sheffield Park has in fact been described as a garden for all seasons.

Admission is £7.80 to £8.60 per adult, free to National Trust members. The garden is open until 5.30pm, sunset at 6pm. Main meals at the pub between £10 to around £16. As before, you are most welcome to attend this photo-excursion by yourself or together with other family members, no matter where you live in the UK.
