Nikon D-SLR Photography

A Practical Workshop Presented by Simon Stafford

Venue: Fitzroy House, 37 Fitzroy Street, London, W1T 6DX

Time: 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Sunday, 3rd March

ATT00099

Following his highly successful series of photographic seminars and workshops presented in association with Grays of Westminster, Simon has developed this entirely new practical workshop to help you make the most of your Nikon D-SLR, irrespective of your level of photographic knowledge and experience; regardless of the camera model you use.

Prepared to help you make a dramatic improvement to the craft of taking photographs, by mastering core camera skills through practical application, the event includes sessions during which Simon will lead you through understanding how your camera works, setting and adjusting its principal controls, plus demonstrate how to use its key functions for creative photography.

Simon will discuss the key aspects of the methodology and imaginative vision behind achieving high quality pictures, sharing his in-depth knowledge accrued from over 30 years of photographic experience, so that you can achieve professional looking photographs consistently. Please note the number of places will be limited strictly; however, attendance of one of Simon’s previous seminars or workshops is not a requirement for this course.

Topics will include:

  • Digital sensors: learn how they react to light
  • JPEG versus RAW: what you really need to know
  • Aperture and shutter speed: master these key camera controls
  • ISO sensitivity: learn how to use it effectively
  • TTL Metering: discover how to use it proficiently
  • Exposure: find out how to achieve accurate exposures, consistently
  • White balance: understand why it is important
  • Histograms: uncover how to make the most of this valuable tool
  • Focusing: improve your focus techniques with AF and manual focus
  • Depth-of-field: understand this important concept
  • Camera menus: optimize your camera menu settings
  • Camera technique: best practice for camera handling & shooting

Prerequisite:

Since this is a practical workshop each delegate must bring a Nikon D-SLR camera and lens to work with during the course.
